Marlena always says that soap friends are the best friends and today I am devastated to hear of passing of my dear friend Lance Jackson in Atlanta. I profiled Lance–a church organist and a fervent soap fan here last year. Here’s a reprint of the original, “Lance Jackson: Conservator of Soap Opera Themes.” His husband Richard passed a year ago. .
I was always so grateful for Lance’s support. He was a delightful, charming man. I loved starting my day on Facebook with one of his organ performances of soap themes. We all loved him and will miss him so much. A funeral service will be Aug. 29 at his home congregation, Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, with a celebration of his life scheduled for Sept. 5.
